Designing this 1000 watt Innersound Reference Power Amp was an exercise in “ultimate overkill”. Starting with a 1.25” thick piece of extruded aluminum, we used a C&C process to carve the faceplate. Beefy aluminum top and bottom panels were used to crush the “wrap-test”. And finally, all chassis connectors were hidden in between the custom heat sinks to give the appearance of a single solid block of bead-blasted metal—all designed inside and out to match the modern elegance and power of the Innersound Kaya electrostatic loudspeaker.

The Innersound Reference Preamp was designed to complement the Reference Power Amp through its use of consistent materials, finishing & production techniques. A custom built-in digital volume knob completed the Innersound Reference aesthetic.

One of our international clients at the Van Heyst Group is the African Green Revolution Forum—an annual gathering of public and private sector stakeholders who help drive investment into projects addressing food security. This 12-page was utilized in the marketing outreach to those stakeholders. Along with taking lead on marketing, VHG also helped developed the program agenda and oversaw audience management. Working directly with Milagro Tequila to introduce the brand into the US, this sell sheet was part of a larger marketing campaign developed to accelerate distribution buy-in, and then drive consumers to purchase this (then) unknown brand.

The Innersound Kaya Reference was given top honors in the 2004 Great Design Issue of Architectural Digest in the category of “Best Home Speaker Design”.
In the design of the Kaya, I combined 74” tall cherry & bird’s eye maple sides wings, custom extruded bead-blasted aluminum trim with a composite UltraStat panel that was painted in an automotive finish by a Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance restoration competitor. Having the opportunity to oversee production on various elements was also crucial to ensuring the high quality end result.
Other speakers were designed to complement the product line including: the Kachina (a smaller floor stander), and the Tehya center channel with adjustable UltraStat panel.

Carrie van Heyst, Co-Founder and CEO of Van Heyst Group and I partnered on creating this board game called StockItToYa! All elements of the game were developed in-house including: product name/logo, game play, copywriting, layout and game pieces. Brand marketing elements included: corporate identity, Web site, sales materials, trade show displays and multimedia presentations. The game was sold into ToysRUs, Go! The Game Store (a division of Barnes & Noble), and online at Amazon.com. We also worked with ToysRUs to develop a sweepstakes promotion in their Top 100 stores.
